Yet another quiz....

current mood: tired

Modern, Cool Nerd
69 % Nerd, 60% Geek, 34% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.

A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.

A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used
to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a
pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world
that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and
geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very
least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent,
knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing
computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one
you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one
up there, winning the million bucks)!

4 Days...

August 22nd, 2005 (08:41 pm)

current song: Psyche Rock - Pierre Henry

So... this is the beginning of the end...

With 4 days left of work, 4 days left of being at home, 4 days left being babied and pampered and basically maltreated (in a health frame of mind) I'm ready to leave home and live a life of a starving student.

My goals of starting the term with no debt failed, however I do have 2 more paycheques coming around and my debt will be manageable (I predict roughly <1500). Also, OSAP turned me down... (fuckers)... and I'm trying to apply for this Lithuanian Scholarship for like $450 that I won last term, however because lithuanians are basically fucked in the head I never received my $450 however, I should be receiving another scholarship from them so sometime soon I should be getting another $450 (hopefully).

Work is pretty good, mainly because I received an Outstanding. This was basically because I was forced to independantly implement a defect tracking system and my boss is basically going to be so screwed because he doesn't have the time to manage it, and the co-op i'm training isn't really prepared for it. I might have to come in for a couple of hours of consultant work ^_^ -> (3~4 hours @ $17.86 =~ $50)

Also, another note of good news, my speaker control pod came in, and I finally have sound back!!!! After listening to my monitor's built in speakers for about 2 weeks, my ears have to get used to listening to hi fidelity sound again... if i understand that high fideltiy means better than shit speakers (y).

So, looking back, I had an awesome weekend with Kiri. Thursday we went and celebrated being togeter for 6 months. We went to Red Lobster and I proved that I can't eat snow crab legs for the life of me... but otherwise we had a gay old time. Afterwards we went to the theatre to watch The Island... but 10 minutes into when the movie should have started, a Galaxy employee came in telling us that there were technical difficulties and that not only would we get to exchange our tickets for a different showing, we'd also get a free pair of tickets for the showing we were going to watch, as well as one in the future... meaning 3 free tickets for Kiri and Chris XD!!!

We eventually ended up watching The Wedding Crashers which turned out to be hilarious except for Will Ferrel who reminds me of our very own Elec Will Ferrel... which kind of turned me off the movie. But overall, there were boobies, and Regina George. With our other movie pass we ended up watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which turned out to be pretty good.

Kiri and I rounded out the weekend by going to the Ex with her brother and sister. This ended up costing a lot of money as Kiri's mom still has to pay me back for buying the tickets but I did get lunch paid for me basically, which I have to thank Kiri for ^_^.
Other than that, I won for her a large Sponge Bob Square Pants at breaking plates and a small stuffed horse named Phillip in Whack-a-mole.

PURITY: 50% sex, 50% substance, 33% moral [45% total]
Well done! The higher your scores, the more "pure" you are. The lower, the more you've experienced.

This test was about done deeds, so your numbers will never climb. [It's
interesting to think they all started at 100%.] But will your purity
continue to fall? Will you OUTGROW or will you OUTDO your past experiences? It's up to you.

  • Don't date anyone if your moral purities differ by more than 30%.
  • Don't run a business with anyone if your substance purities differ by more than 40%.
  • Do be friends with someone who has less than 1/2 your sex purity. You'll enjoy their colorful company.

Note: as for the "TOTAL" purity value - that's a weighted combination
of your scores, indicating what a typical purity test might say about

That J.K.Rowling

July 21st, 2005 (02:54 am)

current song: Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

Oh, that silly J.K. Rowling.

I've just gone and stayed up 2 hours to finish off J.K. Rowling's sixth book in the Harry Potter series - the Half-Blood Prince.

Now, I warn you, if you haven't read the book, and you don't want any spoilers, stop reading.

With that being said, I found the book exhilirating near the end like the past couple of books, however I can safely say I'm satisfied with how it turned out. I remember hypothesising about all sorts of thing when I started reading the book around the time Goblet of Fire came out. Suffice to say, mostly none of my guesses panned out. They were centred around Ron turning evil and the ilk, but as any reader who has finished Prince would see, it doesn't appear to be likely.

I was kind of amazed at Snape's betrayel, and Dumbledore's apparent wearkening before his death. Also, as in most of the HP books, I scream at Harry all the time about what he's done or should have done to save the day as in this case, reveal that he's been cheating using the Half-Blood Prince's potions book. I was thoroughly amazed that Snape was the Half-Blood Prince as by my discussions with Kiri where she told me that apparently J.K. had leaked that Rufus Scrimgeour was the half-blood prince, or hinted to the fact that the prince would be lion-like in character, and the early description of Scrimgeour as having a mane immediately led me to believe that he was it even though there was no corroborating evidence.

As for Snape's betrayel, my friend had already shown me a site which has since been taken down (but a mirror can be found here) that was taken from a page in the book where Harry tells Hagrid about Snape killing Dumbledore. The only descrepency I found between the leaked page and the one in the book is that the page numbers are different.

Overall, I cried when they buried Dumbledore just because of my feeling of loss that I'm sure J.K. wanted. Without a father figure in my life, I feel sad when one departs or when one is praised, just because it motivates me to be like such a figure, and makes me yearn for the ability to have one.

Oh, and on the question of who R.A.B. is, I was told that it quite possibly could be Regulus Black, which might work, however, I was always under the impression that he was evil. Oh well, only a couple of more years til we find out - or whenever the next book comes out.

Oh, here's a wikipedia article regarding some of the speculation about Prince that has led up to the book being released. Here's the wikipedia regarding the book.

Pornography Documentary

current song: I Miss You (Acoustic) - Incubus

Yeah, so, I watch Pornography every once in a while...

And as I was going through my new Torrentbytes torrents I noticed this new XXX video called Thinking XXX. It was a documentary made by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders about his adventures with an antique view camera and how he went from photographing artists, to moviestars, to presidents, and how he wanted to photograph porno stars.

It's pretty interesting hearing the stories of the actors he photographs, and he photographs any genre basically (gay actors, straight actors). There's nudity in it, but no hardcore, which makes the film watchable.

They have all the big names as well: Jenna Jameson, Briana Banks, Christy Canyon, Tera Patrick, Tawny Roberts, Lexington Steele, Ron Jeremy, Seymore Butts, Peter North... and some others that I haven't seen.

All in all it was an interesting watch, from listening to Briana Banks' story about how she started and about this black guy who said he wanted to be big in Hollywood, however because of politics he's not welcome.

They also have these other contributors (writers, journalists, directors) who comment on pornography as well that complement the actors' own stories. Although I sometimes disagreed with what the panel was saying, it did accentuate what I think the filmmaker wanted to do... just to be a link whore, here's the soundtrack and the HBO link

Another quiz I stole from Kiri, who stole from one of her friend's friends...

an Enigma
You scored 6 Honor, 6 Justice, 6 Adventure, and 5 Individuality!

You don't quite fit into any of the four archetypes. This doesn't mean
you don't have honor, individuality, a sense of adventure and a belief
in justice, it just means you don't feel the need to identify with such
extreme personalities.

This may mean that you are the unlikely hero.
This may mean you are the victim. Most likely you just don't see
yourself as any one of these four. Nothing wrong with that.
